"Family Relations" explores family dysfunction in its emotional experiences and manifestations. Despite claims that much has changed, the hardships of their shared pasts are irrevocably ingrained in themselves and in how they interact with one another. The results of this unchecked shared experience are quietly grotesque: regular family stresses drag on far past normal and gossip breeds in miscommunication. Insisting “they turned out fine”, habits and assumptions remain unchallenged. In ignoring trauma of the past, it etches itself into their present.
