Beginning as a means for rekindling Hollander's passion in creating art, "The Little Things" has evolved to meditate on the tiny joys and absurdities in life. Harkening back to her creative roots with child-like impulsive strokes of paint and anthropomorphized objects, she creates mixed media textured paintings that imbue energy into still objects. Often, she depicts ordinary subjects who are overlooked or whose intrigue is found in battling dualities. Thus, some of her subjects include disappointing dragon fruits, broken lucky cats, and unmoving, smiling telephone cable boxes. Hollander’s work celebrates the seemingly unimportant actions and reactions of life; it witnesses the little things that make life worth living.
