THE LITTLE THINGS
Mixed Media & Painting. 2022, ongoing.

This painting series, The Little Things, began as a pathway for rekindling Hollander's passion in creating art. It has since evolved into a series meditating on the tiny joys and absurdities in life. Harkening back to her creative roots with child-like impulsive strokes of paint and anthropomorphized objects, she creates textured canvases that imbue energy into still objects. Often, she selects subjects that she deems overlooked, or whose humor and intrigue is found within the duality it represents. Thus, some of her subjects include disappointing dragon fruits, broken lucky cats, and unmoving, smiling telephone cable boxes. Hollander’s work celebrates the seemingly unimportant actions and reactions of life; it witnesses the little things that make life worth living.
